When close to 1600 snowboarders from all over the country descend on Copper Mountain for the 2008 USASA National Championships, they can expect to see the most elite group of riders in the US face off for National Title honors.  The USASA National Championships has been called the World’s Largest Snowboard Competition.  In 2008, it can now lay claim to the World’s Best Snowboard Competition.  “USASA Open Class has always been the stepping-stone for many of the sport’s top professional competitors.  In order to step up the level of competition, the 2008 USASA Open Class Halfpipe and Slopestyle Events will be 3 Star TTR (Ticket to Ride) events.  TTR is the premiere international competition series in the world featuring hundreds of events across the globe culminating in a final TTR World Champion.” explains Jon Casson, Vice President, of the Executive Board of USASA. Because this event is a corner stone for young riders nationwide, this an ideal venue for Chaos, the leader in headwear and innovation.

“To partner with the TTR and the World Snowboard Federation is just another way to show the world that the USASA is one of the strongest organizations in snowboarding. We have some really talented kids in our regions and this is a great opportunity for them to compete with the best in the business.” Said Jason Toutolmin, USASA Executive Director.  The USASA will be inviting riders from around the globe and from premiere US events to compete in USASA Open Class events at Nationals.  “Our goal is for this event to be the marquee event of the year for the young, up and coming snowboarder not only in the US, but from around the world.” says USASA President Bill Van Gilder.

The USASA is a grassroots snowboard organization with over 5000 members who compete in more than 500 events in 36 regional series across the US.  Competitors range in age from 7 to 70 and represent a group of riders passionate about the sport of snowboarding.  The USASA
National Championships have been the final event of the season for these riders for close to 20 years.  2008 will mark the 19th Annual USASA Nationals and promises to be the biggest and best yet.
